Simono Jakštavičiaus „Spasabas nabazenstwu“ : analogų paieška, lyginimas ir įrišimo rekonstrukcija.

Abstract

The book „ Spasabas nabazenstwu“ was restored in 2004 and was being preserved in the Rare Books Department (holding code: LK-18/38).This book is especially rare – only three copies are known. The binding of the book in the holdings of the Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences was entirely disintegrated. It was difficult to establish the method of book’s binding. Every possible means were tried to restore the authentic binding of this book. The article surveys the provenance of the book, the comparison of the binding of three copies which remained in Lithuania, the process of book’s binding reconstruction. In the process of reconstruction the general means and analogues of binding in the 18th century were referred to in the article, using the data of libraries of Vilnius University and the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore. It facilitated the task of returning the primary appearance to the book.
