| dc.description.abstract | The personal portrait of a scholar is still underrepresented in Lithuanian literature. A survey in the Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences was carried out to investigate the situation. The first published works about Lithuanian scholars appeared in 19th century in Polish language. The first book in Lithuanian was published in 1924 in Kaunas. During the period of 1924–2004 Lithuanian scholars were honoured in 124 books. Among them 16 books were published in other countries. Statistical data showed how different sciences were represented in the field of biographical works. | lt |
