The Science Bibliography Department (now the Department of Information and Analytical
Maintenance of Scientific and Research Work) was founded in the Jakub Kolas Central Science
Library of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus in the sixth decade of the XX century. During more
than fifty years of the department's existence, the staff prepared and published four bibliographic
indices of Belarusian linguistics. The first index „Беларускае мовазнауства" appeared in 1967. The
rest of the indices were published in 1980, 1993, and in 2004. These publications encompass the
materials from 1825 to 1991. Since 1996, the department started compiling a computer database
of Belarusian linguistics. At present, it comprises more than 23 thousands bibliographic entries and
includes all documents pertaining to the main fields of the modern Belarusian linguistics from 1986
till now. Bibliographical indices „Беларускае мовазнауства" and the analogical database include not
only the publications by Belarusian scientists, but also works by foreign specialists in Belarusian linguistics
- researchers from Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, France, Austria, Bulgaria and other
countries. Among them, Lithuanian researchers take an important place. At present, the indices and
the database include bibliographical information about more than 200 scientific publications by 36
linguists from Lithuania.
