Abstract

Scientific research is one of the most important work directions of the Jakub Kolas Central Science Library of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The library, as a scientific research institution, belongs to the Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The library is involved into a broad range of scientific work in the fields of library science, bibliography and book history, the research of new information technologies and their application in the library practice. The main topics of research are as follows: 1) study of the principles of development and use of information resources; 2) optimization of fulfillment of user needs; 3) research of the manuscripts and publications kept in the Rare Books and Manuscripts Department of the library. The staff of the library have published 5 monographs, 29 collected scientific works and 564 articles in the fields of book science, book history, library science and bibliography.
