Anotacija, santrauka:
The article is about the catholic, protestant communities' and educational institutions' libraries,
which are generally called institutional libraries. In the 16lh-17thcenturies the complementing of the
libraries of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was determined by two factors - the expedient activity and
possibility to acquire books. The literature accumulated in those libraries was diverse in subjects.
Untill the middle of 17th century the Latin publications prevailed. But the libraries comprised a
relativelly small part of Latin books published in the Grand Dutchy, they mostly consisted of foreign
publications. The reasons of such content of the libraries are described as follows.
