Abstract:
The subject of this article are the books, printed in Nesvyžius (Nesvizh) in XVIII century
and currently kept in the Lituanica collection of the Rare Books Department. The article discusses
the subjects, motives of publication, condition of the copies and proveniences of twenty books. We
note that the majority of these publications are of a low polygraphic quality and are printed on inferior
paper. We conclude that Nesvyžius printing-house was of limited means, therefore they printed
on a paper of better quality and chose decorative vignettes only in special cases. As owners of the
books – both libraries and private persons – likewise were not very wealthy, the book bindings were
modest. Some of the publications might be of interest to a modern reader.
