Abstract:
The author of the present article had compiled a control list of 17th century Polish books of Lithuania,
published by the Bibliography and Book Science Centre of the Martynas Mažvydas National Library
of Lithuania in 1998. Currently she is preparing a list of 18th century Polish books of Lithuania. As she
compiled the descriptions and added them to the database of 18th century Polish books of Lithuania,
a number of Polish books collections, unregistered in the Polish Bibliography (Bibliographia Polska) by
the Estreichers, emerged. One of such collections – the only one in Lithuania and therefore the most
valuable – is kept in the Rare Book Department of the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy
of Sciences. It is called The Documents of the Uprising of 1794 in Poland and Lithuania: 92 documents of
T. Kosciuszko (Dokumenty powstania 1794 r. w Polsce i Litwie: 92 dokumenty T. Kosciuszki). The collection’s documents,
both published in Poland and in Lithuania, are bound in one set. The publications dated from
March 24 to September 11, 1794 are published in Lithuania. These documents have been added to the
database of 18th century Polish books of Lithuania. Other publications were printed in Poland and so
have not been included into the database. Only three publications from this collection were registered in
the Estreicher’s bibliography; several publications have been found in other libraries. The author comprehensively
discusses these rare and valuable publications and separately mentions the extant copies
kept elsewhere.
