The most copious group of the documentary heritage of the Restored Lithuanian Army in the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences comprises documents from the time of struggles for independence, mainly unpublished memoirs by volunteers and photographs. The interwar peace time period is represented by seldom-published photographs that depict participation of highest officials of the state and the armed forces in various celebratory events. Worthy of interest are R. Burokas’ certificates of military service in the Lithuanian Armed Forces, documents from the ELTA Archive (F222) of the library’s Manuscript Department dated to 1941–1944 and related to the uprising of June 1941, the Territorial Defense Force, anti-Nazi and anti-Soviet underground. The Library has in its holdings a considerable number of documents from the 16th Lithuanian Rifle Division. Documents related to the service of Lithuanians in the Soviet Army in the postwar period and to the Armed Forces of the Lithuanian Republic restored on November 19, 1992 are not numerous.
