Pasaulis mini Pirmojo pasaulinio karo (1914–1918) 100-ąsias metines. Šiame straipsnyje atskleidžiamos
pagrindinės Lietuvos visuomenės pokyčių karo pradžioje tendencijos: įvairių pasaulėžiūros
srovių telkimasis karo pabėgėlių šalpos darbui, jų sąveika ir bendradarbiavimas.

In the last few years, the world is commemorating the 100th anniversary of World War I. The present article sheds light on main trends in changes of Lithuanian society at the start of the war, such as rallying of groups with diverse worldviews in order to provide aid to war refugees, as well as interactions and cooperation between these groups. One of the most important organizations rendering support to the regional population became the Lithuanian Society to Aid War Victims founded on November 14 (27), 1914. The major expansion of the war conflict led to a division of purposes among main political forces in Lithuania. World War I gave a boost to political activities in Lithuania and furthered the development of war relief organizations in the region. Various political parties and faction were forced to look at the perspectives of implementation of their political programs and to search for ways to solve the long-standing issues in the coordination of political agentas.
